Racha Island

Racha Island, also known as Raya Island, is another beautiful destination located off the coast of Phuket in Thailand. It is actually a pair of islands: Koh Racha Yai (Big Racha Island) and Koh Racha Noi (Little Racha Island).

Location: Racha Island is situated approximately 25 kilometers south of Phuket in the Andaman Sea. It is known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life.

Activities: Racha Island offers a range of activities for visitors to enjoy. Snorkeling and diving are popular choices, as the surrounding waters are home to colorful coral reefs and a variety of marine species, including tropical fish, sea turtles, and sometimes even reef sharks. You can also relax on the beautiful sandy beaches, go kayaking, or explore the island’s hiking trails.

Racha Yai and Racha Noi: Koh Racha Yai is the larger and more developed of the two islands. It offers a range of options, restaurants, and amenities for tourists. The beaches on Racha Yai, such as Patok Beach and Siam Bay, are known for their powdery white sand and calm, turquoise waters.

Koh Racha Noi, on the other hand, is a smaller and uninhabited island located nearby. It is less developed and offers a more secluded and pristine environment. The main attractions on Racha Noi are its stunning underwater landscapes and excellent diving opportunities.

Accessibility: Racha Island can be reached by boat from Phuket. Various tour operators offer day trips and excursions to Racha Island, typically departing from Chalong Pier or Rawai Beach. The boat ride takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on sea conditions.

Season and Weather: Racha Island can be visited year-round. The peak tourist season is from November to April when the weather is generally dry and the sea is calm. During the monsoon season (May to October), the island experiences more rainfall and rougher sea conditions, which may limit water activities.

Enjoy the sun, sand, and stunning marine life on your visit to this tropical paradise!
